It's Your Turn
Albus Dumbledore
Albus Dumbledore was a complicated individual with happy and sad points in a lot of the locations in his life. I have selected three: Mould-on-the-Wold, Godric’s Hollow, British Ministry of Magic.
Mould-on-the-Wold was the birthplace of Dumbledore. He grew up here mostly happy until his sister was born and that’s when it all went downhill for him. His sister was attacked and his father sought revenge on the attackers resulting in him being locked up in Azkaban. This would have greatly impacted Albus as he had to step up and essentially become the man of the house.
Godric’s Hollow was good and bad for Albus. He found an ally and lover in Gellert Grindelwald which was a very exciting time for them both. It allowed him to explore his interest in power and the Deathly Hallows. He was dedicated and committed to his pursuits. The place would turn sour for him when there was a three-way duel there between him, Grindelwald and Aberfoth resulting in the demise of the Dumbledore sister. He felt this deeply and carried it with him throughout his life.
The British Ministry of Magic is an interesting one for Albus as he could have easily been the Minister for Magic. Instead, he focused on Hogwarts, educating students and pursuing his interests. So likely positive associations for him there. He also fought Voldemort here in Harry Potter’s fifth year so that would have been significant as it proved he was right the entire time about the man’s return.
- Ereshkigal Csintalan, Slytherin
Bill Weasley grew up in the loving home, The Burrow, created by his parents Arthur and Molly Weasley. He was especially close to Charlie, who was the closest to Bill in age. In a household of many brothers, there's always competition mixed with fun. Bill was the first of the Weasley children to attend Hogwarts. He set the bar high for his younger siblings by excelling academically, particularly in Arithmancy. Bill was chosen to be a Prefect for Gryffindor and Head Boy of Hogwarts in his final year. Upon graduation, Bill landed himself a Cursebreaker position with Gringotts. He worked in Egypt, exploring tombs and breaking any curses there. When Lord Voldemort returned, Bill decided to get a desk job at Gringotts to be closer to his family. Although he missed the tombs, this led to Bill meeting Fleur Delacour, who he dated and married. Bill and Fleur got their own place, which they call Shell Cottage. It served as a safe place during the war and is now a warm home for Bill and Fleur's family.

Well because I’m lazy I’m picking Harry Potter for this one. But I will try to use places that you didn’t mention (TRY)
Hogwarts; Hogwarts is the place where Harry first experienced the feelings of what a home mentions for him. He saw Hogwarts as his home. Beside that Hogwarts was the place for Harry to get out of his hide. He was able to grow his own confidence and to develop his own personality.
Shell Cottage; Harry lost many friends during the Second Wizarding War. But the first death that really died in his arms was Dobby, the house elf that saved him in his second year and who swore loyalty to Harry. At Shell Cottage Harry buried Dobby. I think that this is the moment Harry notice what kind of loses there are.
London alias Diagon Alley; It’s not really London but more Diagon Alley which location is in London. Diagon Alley is Harry’s first real experience with magic. Yes he saw Hagrid use magic, but the moment that Harry entered Diagon Alley he truly saw that it’s all real. That he really is a wizard. This is the start of everything. The beginning of were Harry probably knew that this is the place where he will fit in and be able to grow.

Hermione Granger
1. Muggle London: We don’t know much about Hermione’s life from before she comes to Hogwarts. We just know that her parents were dentists, so presumably she was fairly well to do since I assume dentists make a nice amount of money in the UK. Perhaps she was able to go to a nice private (I’m using American terminology here) school or maybe she didn’t. Either way, she had parents who were supportive of her despite any weird things she did—which would obviously be pre-schooling expressions of magic power—but do you think the kids at school extended her the same courtesy? Not at all. She may have grown up deeply conflicted, introverted, shy about expressing knowledge (due to having been made fun of for her academic eagerness), yet loved and supported wholly at home.
2. Hogwarts: Putting it quite simply, this is where Hermione blossoms. She discovers that she’s not alone in doing weird things from time to time and that it actually means she has power beyond imagination. She gains a close-knit group of people—Gryffindor House—to support her. After a time, and after showing some of Gryffindor’s bravery, she also gains the friendship of Harry and Ron, which will change her life forever. At Hogwarts, Hermione learns what she’s all about and finds her purpose. She cherishes the school so much that there are two prime examples, bookending the series, that prove it: her fear that Harry and Ron will get her killed, “or worse, expelled,” and then the fact that she returns to a still-rebuilding Hogwarts postwar to complete her studies when neither Ron nor Harry do so.
3. The Room of Requirement: I know this is part of Hogwarts (although it could be in another spatial dimension, as studied earlier in this class, within Hogwarts) but it should be considered separately. It is through the Dumbledore’s Army activism, conducted in the Room of Requirement, that Hermione sheds her image as someone who very rarely breaks the rules. She even—at least in the movie—says that it feels good to be rebellious. She realizes that sometimes doing what’s right means breaking the rules that are currently in place, even if the rules are wrong and unjust. This leads directly to her willingness to be a leader and take charge throughout the ‘on the lam’ part of Deathly Hallows.
- Patricia Cleary, pa978, Hufflepuff
The character I chose is Hermione Granger.
1- London is the city where Hermione Granger grew up. Both her parents were dentists in London, and she visited many places in the city while growing up. For example she went to the theater with her parents, which is why when escaping the Burrow after Bill and Fleur’s wedding, she apparated Ron and Harry to Tottenham Court Road, in central London.
2- Forest of Dean is a place where Hermione’s parents brought her camping when she was young. During their search for Horcuxes, and after Harry and Hermione escaped from Nagini in Godric’s Hollow, it is where Hermione apparated them. During their time there, Hermione healed Harry’s wound using Dittany. Hermione had fond memories of the Forest of Dean, it was a place where she felt safe and loved, which is why in a time of trouble, she opted to return there.
3- The Burrow, in Ottery-St-Catchpole, is the home of the Weasley family. On many occasions, Hermione found herself spending time there with Ron and Harry. It represents a place where she was happy and surrounded by her friends. Having not grown up in a magical environment, the Burrow helped Hermione learn about magical families and customs, outside of reading about it in a book. This was her home away from home.

Neville Longbottom
His grandmother's house **- Raised by his grandmother, Augusta Longbottom, after his parents, Frank and Alice Longbottom were tortured by Death Eaters and ended up in St. Mungo's, Neville Longbottom was thought to be perhaps a Squib until he was dropped by his uncle from an upstairs window and bounced on his head down the drive
Hogwarts ** Neville went to Hogwarts and was at first a timid, and clumsy, boy who didn't do so well in his classes (except Herbology in which he excelled). By the end of his schooling there, though, Neville had turned into a courageous, strong and talented member of Dumbledore's Army, defied Lord Voldemort and chopped off Nagini's head!
The Ministry of Magic ** The Ministry of Magic is the place where we see Neville showing more of his true colors; flying there on a thestral (and helping others to mount thestrals because they could not see them), defying and fighting Death Eaters, and generally showing clear signs of the hero that he truly is.
- Prof. Tarma Amelia Black, pr_tar, Hufflepuff
For this part I decided to work with Albus Dumbledore's personal locations. The three connections I have picked here are:
Mould-on-the-Wold --- Dumbledore's birthplace and where he spend his early years of his life are definitely of high importance; If anything, this is where his roots are, this is where the forging of who he is today started, and our place of origin should be important to every one of us. As we've come to know, Dumbledore never truly had a perfect relationship with his brother, nor was their family great in any possible way, yet it was still part of who he was and must have influenced him in one way or another. These are the only years he did in fact spend with a family, and for a larger part of his life these are the only years he spent close to anyone. As I like to think of it, he became a loner because he has trust issues after his family's history and how his best friend turned out.
Hogwarts --- Obviously I cannot skip the castle where he spent most of his life. Due to how bad things were with his family, Hogwarts was in a way Dumbledore's actual home, in a similar fashion like it was for Harry Potter. Ever since he was a student he felt he belonged here, and loved and cherished his time as a student so much that he eventually returned to teach and then lead the school. He used his and everyone else's past mistakes to keep the place alive and bring it to an ever better state. Needless to say, if it wasn't for Dumbledore, Hogwarts would have fallen at one point or another, as it suffered from attacks and organization too many times. Leading schools is a pain in the muggle world, I cannot personally imagine how hard it would be in the wizarding world, but he sure was born to do what he did.
Number 4, Privet Drive --- It may look weird adding this, but I believe anyone can confirm that Harry Potter played a huge role in Albus Dumbledore's life, and vice verca, so I think this addition is justified. Dumbledore went above and beyond to ensure Harry Potter's safety, he cared for him, helped him, guided him, saved him in many occasions, yet Harry still brought a lot to Dumbledore's life. He reminded him of his youth, he was who he could not be because he also struggled in many similar ways in his youth, yet he did not have the guidance that he could give Harry, so in a way he was making up for his errors by aiding Harry.

Your Personal Space
It's difficult for me to know why you'd need explanations of these places! Surely they are self-evident as places of great importance! They are all places where I had sightings (or encounters) with the people (or animals) named. As such, they rank highly in my memories of awesome places in the world.
# 1 - this was the first sighting of Fred and George Weasley (yes, it was when Fred was still alive). Fred and George are my heroes; they are a major reason why I remain at Hogwarts. I saw them going into a joke shop and trailed after them. Lee Jordan was there too.
# 2 - sighting of a Common Welsh Green in flight. What a beautiful thing, to see a dragon flying. It was just so impressive, so magnificent. Wales, England.
# 3 - Ah, a sighting of Robert Downey Jr (who is a star in Muggle movies, but I am quite convinced he is a witch) in San Francisco, CA of the USA.
# 4 - a sighting of Kingsley Shacklebolt (our current Minister of Magic) while he was vacationing on the Nile River in Egypt.
# 5 - a sighting of Oliver Wood, in Scotland, where he is practicing Quidditch. A hero in the Battle of Hogwarts, Oliver Wood was one of my inspirations to start playing Quidditch.
# 6 - a sighting of a nundu in Africa; one of the scariest things I've ever seen and I do not need to see it again!

Macedonia --- The country of origin for my HOL character, where he has also spent his earliest childhood years. He has lived in three different cities there, and traveled through most of the cities of the whole country. My character's main personal traits and characteristics are obviously directly linked to both his genetics origins and the mental development he went through during the years in Macedonia. The first blocks in the construction of any building are obviously the foundation of the building itself.
Kyiv --- During his early childhood days he spent a summer in Kyiv, Ukraine. His father had to travel a lot as part of his job, and he always brought him to explore the places and meet new people. The place's architecture and atmosphere left a huge impression on his life. Later on when started drawing and involving himself in design magic he believed that the love toward this came from that specific summer n Kyiv. Lovely people, enjoyable time, and a fantastic place.
Cairo --- Yet another visit due to his father's business work. Cario was drastically different from Kyiv in every possible way. As great as place as any other, yet very different. Living his life in Europe, one could never imagine how grandiose yet simple buildings such as the pyramids can be. He had seen many photos of the wonders of Cairo, including the river Nile, yet everything was so much better in person.
Hogwarts --- His school and the only magical, truly magical, place in his life. While he had known that magic exists, and has had many small previews to the wizarding world due to his mother who is a witch, he was not prepared for the world that he encountered through Hogwarts. Any and all beliefs and thoughts regarding magic were far too poor and away from the true greatness of that world.
Stockholm --- As a promising student in the field of charms and history of magic, he attends a course on the topic of experimental creation of new spells and charms. Thanks to his parents, he learns a great deal about the past of known spells and charms, and the appropriate approach to experimenting with present knowledge to create new spells and charms. During his stay there he gets to know the culture and people of Scandinavia and due to the amazing time he cherishes this as his best vacation ever.
Milano --- Having passed his OWLs, and now just a year before graduation, he travels to Milano to learn more about magic designers there. The Muggles known this as the city of fashion, which he finds out to be true, but what they do not know is that this city also holds the largest number of wizards and witches who specify in magic design, whether the creation of magical items or the construction of magical buildings. The knowledge here leads him one step ahead to meeting his goal - building a castle as magnificent as the Hogwarts Castle.

The personal spaces for Fumei are very easy. Fumei is born and raised in Beaumaris, which makes this an important place for her. Even though Fumei isn’t a really quidditch person she’s a fan of the Holyhead Harpies (probably only because of the influence of her mother). Hogwarts obviously is also important for Fumei, since this is the place she’s learning magic.
Fumei kind of loves to skip her classes and go on a hike in Hogsmead. Nothing is better then wandering around this town just to look at shops.
Fumei has a love and hate relationship with King’s Cross. In the beginning of the year she dislikes it because it will take her back to Hogwarts. And then again she dislikes it again later in the year for bringing her back home. Wait doesn’t that mean she just has a hate relationship with King’s Cross? And lately Fumei just loves Diagon Alley, but she probably just loves it for the ice cream salon there.

Patricia’s story begins in Northern Ireland, which in the Muggle world is politically part of the United Kingdom and uses the same currency as Britain. (The magical world pointedly ignored the 1922 partition of Ireland by declaring that, as the population was so low anyway, it made more sense to keep everyone together.) Three out of the six locations are in Northern Ireland. Ballycastle is Patricia’s hometown, a lovely small town on the northern coast of Northern Ireland, so north that you can even see Scotland on a good day. Raised by loving parents—mother’s a witch, father’s not, but he loves his wife for everything she is—in an idyllic childhood that included frequent trips to the nearby waterfront.
Enniskillen is a small Northern Ireland city is home to Patricia’s grandparents, with whom she and her parents often spend a lot of time at the holidays and in summer. It is at her grandparents’ Enniskillen home where she first discovered—if by accident—her ability to do magic, at the tender age of 3, when she accidentally made a book levitate into her hands from a shelf that was up too high. Knowing of her mom’s abilities, she felt safe talking to her about this incident and learned that it was a good thing. She did her best to fit in at a Muggle primary school, trying to ensure no huge emotional outbursts that might include accidental magic, knowing that something great would be waiting after she hit age 11.
The last Northern Ireland location is Giant’s Causeway, which is a truly stunning area on the coast of County Antrim. It’s what happened after an ancient volcanic eruption created huge interlocking columns of basalt that looks geometric—so, not real giants, at least not this time. (OOC: I’ve been there and it’s a sight to behold.) It’s a favorite place for the Cleary family to visit, especially for picnics, and during the Second Wizarding War it becomes a place of peace and sanctuary for Patricia.
Interestingly, a place in Wales plays into Patricia’s story too. Holyhead is the proud home of the Holyhead Harpies, the all-woman Quidditch team and her favorite team—despite being from Ballycastle, which is also home to a Quidditch team. That’s because when Patricia was a kid, she would read about the Harpies in the Daily Prophet and would listen to their games on the wireless too. That made her a pretty big fan and one summer, she and her family traveled to Holyhead to see a game. The Harpies won 390-60.
Hogwarts is obviously quite an important place in Patricia’s life and so is Diagon Alley. The latter is the first real symbol of growing up and getting to go to Hogwarts, shopping for school supplies, having a wand choose her and so on. Her first trip there as a Hogwarts student to be was truly a special occasion since it meant the start of a new era in her life. She is quite easily sorted into Hufflepuff (her mother was a Ravenclaw, but was just happy to see her only daughter be happy) and, just as it has done for countless generations of witches and wizards before her, Hogwarts shaped her into a well-rounded and knowledgeable adult.

Rosanna Gullveig was born near Portree on the isle of Skye. An only child, as a young child, Rosa’s favourite place in the world wasAbergavenny, near Brecon Beacons National Park. She used to go there every summer with her family. They would camp, sing songs and go hiking. Just after her 8th birthday, Rosa’s father died in an accident just outside Oxford. Following the accident, her mother moved them to the South of France where her own family was from. It is only after receiving her Hogwarts letter that Rosa moved back to UK. During her time at Hogwarts, Rosa made many lifelong friends, and also developed a keen interest in Charms. Because of this, after graduation she decided to pursue her passion and continue her education at Cambridge’s Magical Education College. There, she obtained a post-graduate degree in experimental charms. Following her studies, Rosa moved to a cottage just outside Whitby. It is there that she married her school sweetheart.

The journey of Scarlet Leslie-Lewis begins in my birth city of Tutshill. My parents moved there from overseas three years before I was born. We moved again when I was three years old, but, by then, I had already become a lifelong Tutshill Tornados fan. Due to my father's new job, we relocated to Sunderland, which is still where my parents reside. After all my siblings were born, we began a family tradition of flying to Glenshee every Christmas to go skiing. Everyone was excited when I received my Hogwarts letter. We went on our first family trip to Diagon Alley in London to buy school supplies. At Hogwarts, I was taught by the best professors and met my future husband, Cody Lewis. His family is from Montrose, which is where we currently live, so he can watch his favorite Quidditch team, the Montrose Magpies, in person during Quidditch season.
